The Pinewood Forrest community development in Fayetteville is the first all geothermal community of its scale in the states.
It’s a mixed use development right next to the famous Pinewood studios. Although the project is completely separate from Pinewood studios it will cater for many of the people who work there, with its restaurants, hotels, recreational amenities and homes.
This development is unique in the sense that Geothermal heating and cooling will be fitted onto each of the houses. The impact of Geothermal will mean forty to seventy percent in costs for the cooling and heating will be reduced and all excess noises will be unheard as there are no outside units.
Dan Cathy: Pinewood Forrest Chief Visionary/ Developer said: “We now have a live, create, play community to go along with the world class studio across the street”.
Several updates were announced on the 21st of April. On the 22nd of April many attended a virtual reality home tour to see into the inside of the initial fifty houses that were on sale. The event also treated visitors face painting, live music, costumed superheroes such as Spiderman and Captain America who spent time with families, products provided by local farmers and food trucks.
All homes come with ground source heat pumps, whole house mechanical ventilation and more in an effort to reduce the use of energy and water consumption in Fayetteville.
The US could have a warm bright renewable future, if it continues to embrace renewable technologies like ground source heat pumps and solar PV.
