Salt mist corrosion can cause the pipework in a heat pump to deteriorate. If you can see the sea from the location of the heat pump then some form of protection is required. The treatment must not affect the ability of the evaporator coils to extract energy from the air, however a 25 micron thin, metallic impregnated, flexible polyurethane coating made by BLYGOLD is the answer in the form of a spray treatment prior to installation. This will prevent any electrolytic corrosion with no loss of efficiency, ensuring years of trouble-free operation – even by the sea!
